Concept of Health:
Traditionally, health has been viewed as an ‘absence of disease‘ concept. If a person was free from the disease then the person was considered healthy. Health is one of those terms which most people find difficult to define. Therefore, many definitions of health have been offered from time to time. According to Webster, it is “The condition of being sound in body, mind or spirit, especially freedom from physical disease or pain”. According to Oxford English Dictionary, “Soundness of body or mind, that condition in which its functions are duly and efficiently discharged”.
According to WHO, good health is defined as “The state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease”. To elaborate on this, we can say that the person has a maximum capacity for work, the ability to undertake mental and physical tasks, and the power to withstand physical, physiological, and psychological stress.
